Both models are 7.3kW single-phase AC charge points on a 32A supply. The APEX-7S-T is tethered, with a 5m Type 2 cable fixed to the unit. The APEX-7S is untethered: it has a Type 2 socket, so the driver plugs in their own cable.
Pro Earth PEN fault protection and 6mA DC fault detection are built in as standard, so most domestic installs need no earth rod. Both are solar compatible, with dynamic load balancing and app control over WiFi and Bluetooth, and carry Project EV's 5 year warranty.

Tethered (APEX-7S-T) has a 5m Type 2 cable fixed to the charger, so the driver just unhooks it and plugs in. It suits a single car at home. Untethered (APEX-7S) has a Type 2 socket instead, so the driver uses their own cable. It looks tidier, suits any cable length, and costs less. The tethered unit is IP65 rated, the socket unit IP54.
On most domestic installs, no. The APEX has Pro Earth PEN fault protection built in, which is what normally forces an earth rod on a TN-C-S (PME) supply. That saves the installer the rod and the groundworks. The installer still has to check the supply and install to BS 7671.
Usually not. The APEX has built-in 6mA DC fault detection (an RDC-DD to IEC 62955), so a Type A RCD or RCBO upstream is normally enough. We also stock the Niglon EV40AXSP-4W, a 40A 4 way consumer unit with RCBO and surge protection that suits a dedicated charger circuit.
The APEX delivers up to 7.3kW, which puts roughly 7kWh into the battery for every hour on charge. How many miles that adds depends on the car. It needs a 230V single-phase supply on a dedicated 32A circuit.
Yes. It is fully solar compatible, so it can charge the car from surplus solar power. Its dynamic load balancing also adjusts the power it draws so it never overloads the home's supply. You control charging, schedules and off-peak times in the APEX app.
