Niglon

Niglon RCBO1 residual current breakers with overload protection. Combined MCB and 30mA RCD protection for each circuit, in a single module.

This page lists the switched line and neutral, bi-directional, Type A range from 6A to 40A. Type A detects pulsating DC fault currents from modern electronics as well as AC. Bi-directional means it can be fed from either side, which matters on boards with solar PV or battery storage. A budget friendly way to build a full RCBO board.

Niglon RCBO buying questions

What does bi-directional mean on a Niglon RCBO?

A bi-directional RCBO works whichever side it is fed from. BS 7671 expects bi-directional protective devices where a solar PV system or battery can feed back into the board, so these suit homes with renewables or plans to add them.

What does switched line and neutral mean?

When the RCBO trips or is switched off, it breaks both the line and the neutral. That fully isolates the circuit and makes neutral to earth faults easier to trace.

Are Niglon RCBOs Type A or Type AC?

Type A. They detect pulsating DC fault currents from electronics, LED drivers and chargers as well as AC. BS 7671 now limits Type AC to fixed equipment with no DC component.

Which Niglon RCBO ratings do you stock?

6, 10, 16, 20, 32 and 40A, all 30mA, single module, switched line and neutral and bi-directional.

Which boards do Niglon RCBOs fit?

Fit them in Niglon boards, like the Protego metal clad consumer units. Boards are tested with the maker's own devices, so keep the board and RCBOs the same brand.
