Mini trunking (16 x 16mm up to 38 x 25mm) carries a few cables to sockets, switches and lights in homes and offices. Maxi trunking (50 x 50mm up to 150 x 150mm) carries large numbers of cables along walls in commercial and industrial buildings.
Self adhesive (the SF versions) is quick to fit on clean, smooth, dry walls. Screw fix is better on rough or uneven surfaces and for heavier cable loads. On long runs, many electricians use self adhesive and add a few screws as well.
Leave room for the cables to sit loosely. IET guidance is to fill trunking to no more than 45% of its space, so pick a size up if in doubt, especially if more cables may be added later.
This trunking is made for indoor use and is rated from minus 5 to 60 degrees C. For outdoor runs, use a system designed for UV and weather exposure.
